In ''Pigen med Glasskaarene (Girl with Glass Pieces)'' (first volume of the master work ''Træet på Godt og Ondt'', written in the period 1924-30), she gave a picture of that milieu. In school she was teased because she was small, chubby, and suffered from strabismus.
